This season is my absolute favorite time of the year. Thanksgiving was absolutely perfect. I spent it with my boyfriend’s family this year and it was extremely low stress (unlike other Thanksgivings I hear of!) Cooking is one of my absolute favorite things to do, so spending the day in the kitchen is basically a perfect day for me.
I thought a recap was absolutely necessary just for memories and to share some of the wonderful recipes and tips we tried out for the day.
The Day Before
Joe’s momma is so great with entertaining guests and keeping the day of entertainment low-stress. Many preparations were made beforehand and one of those was setting the table. A perfect but simple setting with a beautiful centerpiece graced the Thanksgiving table.
For napkin rings: we cut out brown paper bags with a paper cutter and wrote “Thankful for _____” on them. Sealed them with some double sided tape and paired with high quality napkins, they were simple, customized, and classy. Just lovely.

Before the Food, then… the Food
This was my first year running a Turkey Trot and I had such a blast. It felt amazing to get a great workout in before creating a food baby. There were so many hilarious costumes that the next time I do this, I’ll definitely have a costume prepared!
The Menu consisted of:
Fried Turkey, Roasted Duck, Proscuitto Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Casserole & Sweet Potato Souffle, Green Beans, Brussel Sprouts, Cranberry Relish, Dinner rolls, and two different stuffings (One made from bread that we got at Stick Boy and one with oysters!)
(I’ve linked my favorite recipes)
After Dinner
After dinner, we had decaf coffee with pumpkin pie and French Silk pie. Yum! We ended up digesting our food and battling our food comas by watching Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Elf and it really got me into the holiday spirit. I’m going to go check out Christmas lights tomorrow and am so excited!
The Outfit & Looks
My outfit for the day was extremely strategic. I knew everything had to be loose so that I could eat to my heart’s desire. In comes my favorite loose white silk shirt paired with a maroon skirt and a burgundy scarf. Super cute and super good at hiding my food baby ;) (I’ve linked outfit details below the pictures if you’re interested! They’re not the same exact items but similar to the items I’m wearing!)
Finally, For Your Entertainment
You HAVE to watch this hilarious video of a man gobbling at turkeys and like fifty of them gobbling back, it is absolutely hilarious.
All in all, it was a perfect Thanksgiving! I can’t wait for Christmas :)
