Hi darlings! It’s been a long time since I’ve been active on the blog and boy does it feel good to be typing away on my pink laptop again. So many life updates to provide to you, but if you’ve been following me via social media, you know that I got married! It was the best day of my life! (I’ll update you guys more on that later)
Today.. I can’t wait to share with you guys one of my favorite parts of my wedding day, the DRESS! This dress was my mother in law’s dress. It was the very first dress I tried on and as soon as I put it on, I knew that this was the one. It’s covered in a beautiful lace literally frosting the dress. I made very minor alterations to the dress to preserve its beauty. The details I added were the scallops on the chest and on the sleeves, everything else on the dress is in its original state.
I’m a sentimental gal so wearing this dress meant the world to me. It perfectly represents the relationship I have with my mother in law, I have basically been her adopted daughter for the six years that Joe and I dated and it feels so good to officially be able to call her mom. She has always treated me as she would her own daughter and this act of handing down her dress really showed me how she cherished and loved me!
I hadn’t planned on taking bridal portraits until I won a photo session giveaway with my cherished friend Liz at Trek and Bloom Photography. Of course I seized the opportunity as Liz has an amazing talent at capturing details and emotion, exactly the character traits I would want in a photographer for a bridal portrait session. When Liz initially asked me what I wanted my bridal portraits to look like she helped me come up with three words to characterize it, “rustic, elegant, and chic”. From that point, Liz took the reigns and found me a florist, the venue to shoot at, and went above my expectations and got a custom copper arbor built for me as well as greenery to grace it. Grateful isn’t enough to describe how I feel about having Liz as a friend in my life!
