This weekend, we got to check an item off of our bucket list that I have been very excited to cross off – Ride the ferry from Longwharf to Charlestown! The ferry is $3.50 for a one-way ticket and it’s a very short trip to Charlestown which is an island across the water and stretches about a mile long. It’s a historic waterfront area and you really do feel like you’ve taken a time machine back in time when you take a look at some of the buildings there.

The Logistics:
I searched the web for specific instructions on how to get these tickets for the ferry and still had to stop by three booths and ask around. Because of this very reason, I’m going to give you specific instructions on how you can go about riding the ferry!
The first thing you’ll have to do is go to the Aquarium near Long Wharf and find the area where the boats depart from. To get the ferry tickets, you’ll go down the ramp that you see in the below picture and keep walking until you see a little ticket booth.
The ferry leaves every 30 minutes on the weekend and the last departure time is at 6 PM. You can pay with a card for your tickets. I went ahead and got round-trip tickets at the departure booth but there is also a booth at Charlestown where you can purchase one-way tickets for your trip back. The last ferry from Charlestown comes back at 6:15 PM.

If you get to Charlestown and are looking for a place to eat, I would definitely check out Pier 6 which is a restaurant by the water and has gorgeous views on its rooftop deck during sunset.
The white dress that I wore was perfect for the weather and for taking an adventure by the sea. I paired it with my trusty sandals that literally go with everything and a headband that I actually made with a sash from a romper ;) I loved how comfortable I was in this dress and how I didn’t get hot in it at all!

We took our sweet time walking around Charlestown, we got to check out a memorial for the Korean War Veterans and just explore the streets. It’s so peaceful at Charlestown compared to the hustle and bustle of downtown Boston. Everything from the ferry ride to walking the streets of Charlestown was so relaxing! You can definitely spend an entire afternoon here just walking and enjoying your company but that’s about all the time that you’ll need.
