How to Look Put Together
You guys know by now that my life philosophy is to put my best foot forward in every aspect of my life. And although, I believe firmly, that looks are not everything. It is important to make sure to present yourself in a clean way. Although first impressions are not always accurate, they do make an impact on the connections you will make and the opportunities you are offered.
With that being said, I want to outline five easy things you can do to make sure you are put together. These are habits that will benefit you and that you should practice as often as possible. If you follow me on Instagram, you have already seen these tips outlined in the Beauty Monday Series that I do on Instagram Stories every Monday at 5 PM!
I actually did a version of this back in 2018, which you can visit here. Without further ado, let’s move on to those five steps!
1. Take Care of Your Hands / Nails
We talk often with our hands and it is the first thing that is shown to other people. It is easy to spot hands that are not taken care of, especially if your nails are dirty or jagged or have nailpolish chipping off of them.
It’s incredibly important to learn how to groom your nails. As 2020 has shown us, you can’t rely on other people to tend to your grooming needs. So, if you have not already been grooming your nails at home, get in the habit of trimming and filing them.
If you do not like having nailpolish on your nails, well-groomed nails will make all the difference you need!
Additionally, keeping your hands moisturized will do wonders to prevent wrinkles as well as keep the outward appearance of your hands smooth.

2. Build a Capsule Wardrobe
A capsule wardrobe is basically a set of staple items that you can mix and match for different occasions. If you are still not sure what that means, seeing a visual of a capsule wardrobe should help, you can view some examples here.
Take a note of your personal style and build staple pieces based off of what your personal style is. It is always a good idea to start minimal and build starting with neutral colors (white, black, tan, cream, gray).
Once you start to build a closet full of higher quality items, it is also important to learn how to take care of your clothing. Take note of the washing instructions particularly for special fabric such as silk, cashmere, suede. It is also important to keep your shoes clean.
3. A Good Brow & A Go-To Lip Color
Neat and groomed eyebrows will do wonders for accentuating the correct features on your face.
Having a go-to lip color to wear will help you bring some color to your face and will make a big difference in helping you look more put together!

4. Take Care of Your Hair
Learn how to take care of your hair depending on the hair type that you have.
Keeping it healthy will ensure that your hair looks tidy and clean. Going to the salon for regular trims or teaching yourself how to trim your hair at home will make a big difference in being able to maintain healthy hair.

5. Be Mindful Of Your Posture
Finally, be mindful of your posture and if you are slouching. Make it a habit to regularly check your posture and straighten out your shoulders and keep your chin straight.
Having proper posture is incredibly important for your health and your back muscles but it also provides a more elegant image. Slouching is indicative of laziness and sloppiness and we want to avoid that as much as possible!
At the end of the day, make it a habit to put these little routines into your day for yourself. Looking put together will also help you with your confidence and may even dictate how the rest of your day goes. Much like making your bed in the morning, a series of positive routines will get you in the right mindset that you need for a productive and fulfilling day.
