Wedding Details and Getting Ready

July 25, 2017

I am so excited to finally share pictures of our wedding with you guys. There are literally so many pictures that I’ll have to split it up in several posts so the details can really be appreciated. Our pictures were taken by the one and only Ally and Bobby Photography and I am so happy we chose them to be our photographers. They really captured all of the beauty of the day in exactly the way that I wanted.

We got ready at Ridgeview Manor, an amazing house tucked away in the Heavenly Mountain area of Boone, NC. It’s hard to say anything bad about this house, it had everything we could ask for and more. Two fire pits for smores, an amazing swimming pool, jacuzzi, there was even a sauna inside of the house. My family and our entire wedding party stayed at this house the weekend of our wedding and we made the absolute best memories here. The only bad thing was that there was no reception so when we were trying to communicate with other people on our wedding day, that presented the tiniest issue, nothing we couldn’t overcome!

I kept my accessories for the day pretty simple, with these darling earrings and a cross necklace Joe had gifted me from Tiffany’s our freshman year of college. Don’t you just love that Joe’s wedding band is rose gold? I was really surprised when he picked it out but also delighted!

Our wedding suite was so fun to make especially because my maid of honor (Joetco Calligraphy) helped me make them. I wanted our invitation to be a little different and I definitely didn’t want it to be stuffy. To reflect that the day would be one centered around a whole bunch of fun and celebrating, we put our guests in a playful mood with the ad lib RSVP card. We sealed it with a bit of class with the wax monogram stamp. I also love the personalized monogram Joanna created for us and my absolute favorite part is the envelope liner that showed our venue, The Apple Barn. This was watercolored by my sister in law who is incredibly talented and very artistic!
I am a really big fan of scallops, I added them on my wedding dress. That was actually the only alteration I made to the wedding dress which was my mother in law’s dress! And to keep with the scallop theme, my wedding shoes were Sam Edelman flats with scalloped edges (They’re currently on sale for 50% off!) I knew that it was going to be a long wedding day and I definitely didn’t want to be in heels all day, so flats it was!
My robe was one of my favorite parts of the day, it had both scallops and was entirely covered in lace. So elegant and dreamy, exactly the kind of robe I envisioned myself getting ready in on my wedding day. I got the robe from Girl With a Serious Dream.

Don’t my bridesmaids look absolutely beautiful in their robes! I got them off of Etsy.
And here is the beautiful wedding dress I wore. This was my mother in law’s dress and the only alterations I made were to the sleeves and adding scallops to the front. The rest of the dress was preserved in its original state. Isn’t it absolutely beautiful?! I knew from the moment that I tried it on that this one was the one.

My mom’s dress is also one of my favorite details from the day. My mother is really petite and I actually had a lot of trouble helping her find a dress that wouldn’t need a load of complicated alterations and was beautiful. We ended up loving this one.
Here’s a darling pictures of my bridesmaids helping me get my shoes on.
My handsome groom wore a navy suit from Brook’s Brothers with a matching Brook’s Brothers watch. His bowtie is from the Tie Bar.

He also gifted his groomsmen bowties, suspenders, and socks. I loved how they all ended up looking together!
My bridesmaids wore a combination of blush and gold dresses. Our bouquets were made by Joe’s cousin and they are absolutely beautiful! I knew that I wanted my flowers to be dreamy and luscious and to be pretty simple. We ended up getting peonies, garden roses, white roses, and carnations to act as fillers and eucalyptus to act as greenery. They ended up being absolutely beautiful, I am so obsessed with them!

My maid of honor wore a crown of eucalyptus leaves which made her stand out from the others and I loved it! Doesn’t she look absolutely amazing?!

Our wedding venue was The Apple Barn. I had always wanted to get married in a cute little barn decorated with a whole bunch of christmas lights and I am so happy we picked this darling barn to be our venue!

We kept the decor in the venue very simple with church pews acting as seating and a very simple hurricane lamp with some greenery gracing our tables. I loved how it turned out! Since the wedding weekend was forecast for rain, we ended up setting up the venue to get married inside of it. However, if it had been sunny we would have gotten married in front of a glorious tree right outside of the barn!

For our wedding ceremony, we lit a unity candle and took communion as a couple. I absolutely love the candelabra that we used to hold our candles. Absolutely elegant.

Our sweetheart table

I had always wanted a simple cake decorated with beautiful flowers and a spread of other desserts around it. We got all our desserts catered from Publix and people were raving about them all night!

For our cocktail hour, we setup the outside area of the Barn for socializing and playing games. Joe’s father built us custom corn hole boards and life size Jenga pieces. I absolutely love them and love that we get to keep them in the family forever.

For our favors, Joe’s mother grew a bunch of herbs to hand out. Aren’t they darling?!

Our coffee bar is also one of my favorite parts of the wedding. Joe and I absolutely love coffee so it was important to us that this part of the wedding really shined and was unique. We had rock candy and chocolate spoon stirrers as well as homemade syrups. To have as a treat on the side we had kisses and espresso beans. How fun is that!

Finally, Joe and I changed into the traditional Korean clothes that my parents had gotten married in for our reception. They are absolutely beautiful and vivid in color, I can’t wait to share more of them when I make a blog post of our portraits!
I hope you enjoyed reading about all of the meaningful details of our wedding day! Be on the lookout for my next post of our wedding! :)

There is a humbling feeling you receive as you go to venues like this. A sweeping era of romance was born here, and it's clear why. One of the most beautiful wedding venues I have visited anywhere in God's beautiful World and I have been nearly everywhere imaginable!
