First Week in Boston Recap & June Goals

June 4, 2018
I would like to thank ThredUp for sponsoring this post. All of the dresses that you see in this post are from Thredup and cost less than $100!!!!
Get yourself a new summer wardrobe through Thredup.

Hi, darlings, we have officially been in Boston for a week and I just sent off Joe to his very first day of research at Harvard. I am so proud of him!

We are having such a blast. We are experiencing a lot of new things. For example, we’re not used to having to walk everywhere (Joe and I averaged ten mile days last week, isn’t that insane?!) We also are not used to being able to walk to the grocery store and having to carefully plan out our meals so that we are buying just what we need. It’s an amazing experience and Joe loves that we don’t have to drive anywhere. (I, on the other hand, do miss my car quite a bit haha).

Boston Week 1 Recap – feel free to use this post to inspire any of your itineraries if you have an upcoming trip to Boston!

Fairmont Copley Plaza // The Salty Pig // Giacomo’s

We kicked off our trip to Boston with an anniversary celebration at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, read more about our weekend here. We ate at The Salty Pig and then on our anniversary night at our favorite Italian restaurant Giacomo’s. The food at Giacomo’s is very reasonably priced and just the most amazing Italian food we have ever had. We’ve waited over an hour each time that we’ve come here and it is ALWAYS worth it!

During the day, we checked out Copley Plaza which has amazing shops and EATALY!! For a great budget-friendly breakfast, we went to Au Bon Pain

Charles River Esplanade

After our anniversary weekend, we got to settle into our place in Brookline, MA. We are surrounded by hundreds of restaurants, multiple retail locations, and a Trader Joe’s is a short six-minute walk away. It’s also far away from downtown that the neighborhood is quiet. We really lucked out with our location, praise God! We go to walk to the Charles River Esplanade with our friend and it was absolutely amazing. If you are coming to Boston I would highly recommend walking along the Charles River.

I love this first dress that I got from Thredup, the ruffles on the side are so so fun and are also POCKETS!

Boston Common // Boston Public Garden // Chinatown

The next day we made the trek to the Boston Common and Boston Public Garden. It is so beautiful here! To get here, we walked along Commonwealth Ave where there are many pretty doorways to get inspired by.
After finishing up at Boston Common, I was craving Asian food so we made our way to Chinatown in Boston. It’s not clean but they have dim sum and sometimes you just have to go with your priorities people! We weren’t that hungry so we went for a little Dim Sum Snack at Great Taste. Next time, we will definitely be checking out Hei La Moon.

 .

I absolutely love this dress that I got from Thredup, it was new with tags from Ann Taylor Loft! The scalloped details were what made me fall in love with this dress.

Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University

We were told that the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University was impressive so we decided to make our way over to the Arboretum. This place really is impressive with 285 acres of land filled with different trees, flowers, and even fruit trees. We didn’t get the chance to explore all 285 acres of the arboretum but definitely had an enjoyable and peaceful experience here.

The final dress that I got from Thred Up. I have gotten so many compliments on this dress and the scalloped details are just amazing!

Boston Public Library // Eataly

Finally, I wanted to so badly to show Joe the grandeur of the Boston Public Library so we made the trek to downtown Boston to explore the library. And of course, we had to get some gelato from Eataly. I had the almond and caramel tiramisu and it was probably the best gelato I have had in my life. IT WAS SO GOOD!

JUNE GOALS
My goals for this month are very straightforward. I have a Boston bucket list I’d love to accomplish and then some personal and career goals.
  • Check off as many things as I can on my Summer Bucket list
  • Make our way to Nantucket, MA
  • Lose five pounds (easy if we walk all the time, hard because of all the good food here)
  • Really amp up my blog this summer (while I have the time!)
  • Read five books
  • Educate myself on all web-related items (SEO, Javascript, HTML/CSS)
What are your June goals? Do you have any suggestions for what we should do in Boston?

Aw so glad to hear it's going well in Boston! I grew up in Maine so my family and I would make trips to Boston, and once I got into high school / college my friends and I would take the train down and do day trips of our own. Such a great city and summer is DEF the time to be there weather wise!!
