CHRISTMAS

Christmas Elements For Your Home

December 3, 2020

Can you guys believe that it is December?! My mind is really blown, I know that I’ve been mentioning the pandemic in basically every single one of my posts this year, but I just can’t believe it. It seems like just yesterday that we were being told that we would have to stay home in March.

Congratulations to ALL of you for making it this far this year. I was so excited to bring Christmas decorations into our home this year. I definitely needed the extra festive joy. They truly have warmed my heart so much already. With it getting dark around 5 PM these days, the Christmas lights are definitely essential!

I am excited to welcome you into our home this Christmas! Here are some elements that I make sure to include in my home each year!

1. Christmas Tree

Obviously, the first element of bringing in that Christmas cheer in our home was a Christmas tree. We have made it a tradition the past four years to go a Christmas Tree Farm and pick out a live tree. We didn’t get a chance to do that this year, so we opted for a faux flocked tree that I ended up LOVING! However, next year, I’ll find a way to get my real Christmas tree, we may just end up with two Christmas trees next year, haha!

Did you know that the evergreen fir trees have been used in the past to celebrate winter festivals (for both pagans and Christians?)

2. Soft Blankets / Throws

There’s nothing like cuddling up next to a warm fire with the Christmas-tree lit and putting a cheesy Christmas movie on. Soft blankets and throws are an essential part!

3. Stockings

Apparently, Saint Nicholas had put gold coins in the stockings of three poor woman back in the day. Knowing that story, it’s become a tradition for children to hang up their stockings, hoping that they will be filled with gifts when Santa comes. With that being said, there’s nothing like having stockings for your family members to bring in that Christmas cheer.

4. Garlands & Wreaths

In the past, people (specifically pagans) used wreaths to decorate their home in memory of the coming of spring. Winter truly can be dreary time with the sun going down so quickly. I understand the sentiment behind wanting to bring greenery in the home!! Garlands and wreaths truly bring a level of magic to your home that elevates the Christmas cheer.

We always have a simple wreath hanging outside of our door and now we have two little wreaths in our bedroom. If you want to see how we decorated our bedroom for Christmas, you can view it here.

What are your favorite ways to decorate your home for Christmas?
