4 Korean Recipes You Can Make Easily!

September 22, 2017
Jadoregrace.com// Korean food pantry items you need and 4 easy Korean Recipes
Korean Curry

Okay, earlier this week I posted the Korean grocery run I did at Hmart on my Instagram Story and so many of you guys were intrigued and wanted to learn more about Korean food and cooking it. I was so excited and so willing to do a blog post about it but then I started to doubt myself thinking, “Wait, I hardly even know how to cook Korean food myself, what was I thinking?!”

But today I’m setting that doubt aside because I do love my Korean food and I’ll keep it real simple for you guys so that you can follow along!

Essential Korean Pantry Items

Here are the items that I always find myself needing when I’m trying to cook Korean food. I’ve linked all of them to Amazon so that you can easily purchase them if you want! (I know that going to an Asian grocery store can be really intimidating, so this is one easy way to get the ingredients!)

Jadoregrace.com// Korean food pantry items you need and 4 easy Korean Recipes

  1. Soysauce
  2. Mirin
  3. Gochujang (Red Pepper Paste)
  4. Doenjang (Soybean Paste)
  5. Korean Red Pepper Powder (Gochugaru)
  6. Sesame Oil
  7. Sesame Seeds
  8. Doengmyun (Korean Glass Noodles)
  9. Rice Vinegar
  10. Fish Sauce
  11. Anchovies (for stock)

Other Items Used Frequently In Korean Dishes

These items are not things you necessarily have to go to the Korean store for so I made a separate list for them!

  1. Jasmine / White Rice
  2. Brown Sugar
  3. Cornstarch

Benefits to Eating Korean Food

There are so many countless benefits to eating Korean food but the best benefits are that you’ll eat CLEAN and NUTRITIOUS dishes that are usually low calorie. Whenever somebody wants to go on a diet or lose some weight I always suggest eating Korean food.
OF COURSE, there are Korean dishes that are NOT low calorie and basically are junk food but for the most part Korean food is really healthy! :)

My Favorite (EASY) Korean Dishes
I tried to pick all the dishes that I LOVE and that are easy to make (easy being measured in terms of being able to make the dish in thirty minutes!)

Korean Tofu Soup
by Jadoregrace September-22-2017
This is my FAVORITE recipe to make, it is SO flavorful and low calorie. The key ingredient in this is the tofu and unfortunately you cannot get it off of Amazon but you can go to your asian grocery store and get it (Go to Hmart if you are in the triangle!)
Ingredients
  • 3 packs Pulmuone Soft Tofu
  • 1/3 cup Kimchi
  • 2-3 tbsp Kimchi Juice
  • 1, chopped green onion
  • 1 tbsp *1 tsp if you don’t like spicy food Gochugaru (Korean Red Pepper Powder)
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Cooking Oil
  • 3 cups Anchovy (or beef) broth
  • 1 tbsp Soysauce
  • 1 tsp Fish sauce
  • 3-4 oz (optional) Beef, Pork, or seafood
  • 1 (optional) egg
  • to taste Salt and Pepper
Instructions
1. Start in a large pot and fry the garlic with cooking oil for a minute or until fragrant. 2. Chop up the kimchi into small pieces and cook with the garlic for 2-3 minutes. 3. Place seasonings (Korean red pepper powder, Korean red pepper paste, Soysauce, Fish Sauce, Kimchi Juice) into the pot and fry for 2 minutes. 4. If you are using meat or seafood, place into the pot now and fry until they have been cooked completely. 5. Pour the anchovy broth into the pot and bring to a boil. If you have used a fatty meat, you will see the fat floating to the surface. Skim the fat off with a spoon. 6. After boiling for about 5 minutes, put the 3 packs of tofu into the broth along with the sesame oil and break it up into large chunks. Add salt and pepper to taste. 7. Break an egg into the broth while it is still boiling and top off with chopped green onions. 8. Enjoy with a bowl of rice!
